How to Reset the Oil Change Light on Your Cadillac SRX
Understanding the Oil Change Light
Your Cadillac SRX has a dashboard light that reminds you when it's time for an oil change. After you get an oil change, this light needs to be reset so it can track the next service interval. The light doesn't turn off by itself—you have to reset it manually.
Steps to Reset the Oil Change Light
Follow these steps to reset your oil change light:
Turn On the Ignition
Sit in the driver's seat and turn the ignition to the "On" position. Do not start the engine. The dashboard lights should come on.
Access the Menu
Look for the menu buttons on your steering wheel. On most SRX models, you'll find buttons labeled "Menu" or arrow buttons on the left side of the steering wheel.
Navigate to Settings
Use the arrow buttons to scroll through the dashboard menu until you see an option for "Vehicle" or "Settings." Press the center button to select it.
Find the Oil Life Option
Continue scrolling until you find "Oil Life" or "Oil Change." This option may also appear as "Service Reminder" or "Maintenance."
Reset the Light
Select the oil life option and look for a "Reset" choice. Press and hold the center button until the display shows a confirmation message. The light should disappear from your dashboard.
What If the Light Won't Reset?
If you're having trouble resetting the light using these steps, check your vehicle's owner manual for your specific model year. Some older or newer SRX models may have slightly different button locations or menu layouts. Your Cadillac dealer can also reset the light for you if you prefer.
Keeping Track of Oil Changes
Resetting the light helps you stay on top of regular maintenance. Write down the date and mileage when you reset it so you have a record of your service history.
