How to Reset the Oil Change Light on Your Hummer H2 or H3

Understanding Your Oil Change Light

Your Hummer H2 or H3 has a dashboard light that reminds you when it's time for an oil change. After you complete an oil change, this light needs to be reset so it can track the next service interval. This guide explains how to reset that light yourself.

Reset Steps for Hummer H2 and H3

The process is straightforward and takes just a few minutes. Here's what to do:

Step 1: Turn On the Ignition

Start by turning your key to the "On" position without starting the engine. The dashboard lights should illuminate.

Step 2: Locate the Reset Button

Look for a small button or dial on your dashboard. On most H2 and H3 models, you'll find a reset button on the instrument cluster or a scroll wheel on the steering column.

Step 3: Press and Hold

Press and hold the reset button for about 10 to 15 seconds. You may see the oil change light flash or change on your display. Keep holding until the light resets completely.

Step 4: Turn Off the Ignition

Turn the key back to the "Off" position. The light should now be cleared.

Step 5: Start Your Engine

Start your engine and verify that the oil change light is no longer showing on your dashboard.

If the Light Doesn't Reset

If the light remains on after following these steps, consult your owner's manual for your specific model year. Different model years may have slightly different reset procedures. You can also contact a Hummer dealer for guidance on your particular vehicle.

Keep Track of Your Oil Changes

Resetting the light helps you stay on schedule with regular maintenance. Write down the date and mileage each time you change your oil so you have a record for your vehicle's service history.
