Step-by-Step Guide to Changing Oil on Your Lamborghini

Getting Started: What You'll Need

Before you begin, gather the right materials. You'll need the correct oil type for your Lamborghini model, an oil filter, an oil drain pan, a wrench set, a jack and jack stands, and ramps or a lift. Check your owner's manual to find the exact oil specification and capacity for your vehicle.

Preparing Your Lamborghini

Park on a level surface and let the engine cool for several minutes. Engage the parking brake. If using a jack, place it under the designated lift points and raise the vehicle safely. Use jack stands to support the weight. Never rely on a jack alone.

Remove the undertray or splash guard if your model has one. This gives you access to the oil drain plug and filter.

Draining the Old Oil

Position your drain pan under the oil drain plug. Using the appropriate wrench, loosen the drain plug by turning it counterclockwise. Once loose enough, carefully unscrew it by hand. Let the old oil drain completely into the pan—this may take several minutes.

Wipe the drain plug clean with a rag. Check the rubber washer or crush ring on the plug. If it's damaged or flattened, replace it before reinstalling.

Replacing the Oil Filter

Locate the oil filter on your engine. Position the drain pan underneath it. Using an oil filter wrench, turn the filter counterclockwise to loosen it. Once loose, unscrew it by hand and let any remaining oil drain into the pan.

Clean the filter mounting surface on the engine with a clean rag. Apply a thin layer of new oil to the rubber gasket on the new filter. Screw the new filter on by hand until the gasket contacts the engine, then turn it an additional three-quarter turn.

Reinstalling the Drain Plug

Thread the drain plug back into the pan by hand first. Use your wrench to tighten it firmly, but do not over-tighten—this can strip the threads or crack the pan.

Adding New Oil

Lower the vehicle back to the ground if you raised it. Locate the oil filler cap on top of the engine and remove it. Pour in the recommended amount of new oil slowly. Replace the cap.

Checking Your Work

Start the engine and let it run for a few seconds, then turn it off. Wait a minute for the oil to settle. Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it fully, and pull it out again to check the level. Add more oil if needed to reach the proper mark.

Check underneath the vehicle for any leaks around the drain plug and filter. If you see drips, tighten these connections slightly.

Disposing of Old Oil

Never pour old oil down the drain or into the ground. Take it to a local recycling center, auto parts store, or service station that accepts used oil. Many accept it for free.
