Print Your Royal Caribbean Luggage Tags at Home

Understanding Royal Caribbean's Luggage Tag System

Royal Caribbean cruise lines use luggage tags as a critical part of their embarkation process. These tags serve as identification markers that help the cruise line organize and deliver your baggage to your cabin during the boarding process. When you book a Royal Caribbean cruise, the cruise line typically provides luggage tags, but many travelers find it more convenient to print their own tags at home before their cruise date.

Luggage tags contain specific information tied to your reservation, including your booking number, ship name, sailing date, and cabin assignment. This information allows Royal Caribbean's baggage handling team to sort thousands of bags efficiently and ensure each piece arrives at the correct cabin. The tags are usually printed on durable cardstock material that can withstand the handling process from your home to the ship.

The luggage tag printing option has become increasingly popular because it allows travelers to prepare in advance rather than waiting for physical tags to arrive in the mail or picking them up at the terminal. Printing at home also means you can attach tags to your bags earlier, which can reduce stress on embarkation day when the port area becomes crowded with passengers checking in.

Royal Caribbean makes this feature available through their website's myCruises section, which is accessible to anyone with an active reservation. The system is designed to be straightforward, though the specific steps may vary slightly depending on when you booked your cruise and which Royal Caribbean ship you're sailing on.

Practical takeaway: Understanding the role of luggage tags in the embarkation process helps you appreciate why printing them at home can streamline your cruise preparation and reduce potential baggage delays.

Preparing Your Account and Gathering Required Information

Before you can print luggage tags from home, you need to have access to your Royal Caribbean reservation information. This requires logging into your myCruises account on Royal Caribbean's website. If you don't already have an account, you can create one using the email address associated with your booking and your reservation number, which appears on your cruise confirmation documents.

Your reservation confirmation email contains several pieces of information you may need during the process. The booking reference number (usually six characters) is essential for logging in. You'll also want to have your last name and the email address you used when booking the cruise. Having these details readily available before you start the printing process prevents delays and confusion.

When you access myCruises, the system shows all cruises associated with your account. If you're sailing with multiple people, make sure you're viewing the correct reservation. Some travelers book multiple cruises or have family members' reservations under their account, so confirming you're looking at the right sailing date and ship name is important.

It's also helpful to check that your personal information in the system matches your actual details. The luggage tags will reflect the names and cabin assignments in the Royal Caribbean system, so if there are any discrepancies, you may want to contact Royal Caribbean directly before printing. Having accurate information reduces the risk of baggage routing issues during embarkation.

You should also verify your sailing details at this time: the ship name, sailing date, home port, and destination. These details appear on your luggage tags, and confirming them now ensures your tags will be accurate when you print them.

Practical takeaway: Organize your reservation details and log into your myCruises account several days before your sailing date to ensure all information is correct and there's time to address any discrepancies with customer service.

Locating the Luggage Tag Printing Feature on Royal Caribbean's Website

The luggage tag printing feature within myCruises can take some searching to locate if you're unfamiliar with the website's layout. Once you're logged into your account, look for sections related to pre-cruise preparation or onboard information. Royal Caribbean typically organizes this feature under tabs or menu options labeled "Get Ready to Sail," "Prepare," or "Pre-Cruise Planning."

Different sections of the myCruises dashboard serve different purposes. Some sections handle payment information, dining reservations, shore excursions, and onboard spending. The luggage tag printing option is usually grouped with other check-in and boarding preparation tools rather than with activities or shopping features.

Royal Caribbean occasionally updates its website interface, so the exact location and appearance of the luggage tag printing feature may vary. If you can't immediately find it, try using the search function on the website or looking for a "Print Documents" or "Boarding Documents" section. Some users also report the feature being listed under "Check-In" or "Luggage" categories.

The feature typically appears several weeks before your sailing date, so if your cruise is many months away, the option may not yet be available in your account. Royal Caribbean generally enables luggage tag printing between 45 and 90 days before departure, though this timing can vary based on your specific sailing and the ship you're booked on.

If you're having difficulty locating the feature, you can contact Royal Caribbean's customer service team, which can direct you to the correct page or provide guidance on the current location of the tool. Alternatively, some travel agents who booked your cruise may also provide information about where to find this feature on the website.

Practical takeaway: Familiarize yourself with the myCruises website structure early in your cruise preparation, and don't hesitate to search the site or contact customer service if you can't locate the luggage tag printing feature within a few weeks of your sailing date.

Printing Your Luggage Tags at Home: Step-by-Step Process

Once you've located the luggage tag printing feature, the actual printing process is relatively straightforward. The system typically generates a document in PDF format that contains all the luggage tags for your reservation. You'll need to download this file to your computer and then print it on your home printer.

The PDF file usually contains tags for each passenger on your reservation. If you're traveling with family or friends, the document will include separate tags for each person. The tags display information such as your ship name, sailing date, last name, cabin number, and a barcode. Some versions also include your booking reference number and home port information.

For printing, you should use standard white cardstock or heavy-duty paper. Regular printer paper is too thin and won't withstand the handling process during embarkation. Cardstock (usually around 65-110 pound weight) provides durability without being too stiff to fold or attach to your luggage. You can purchase cardstock at office supply stores or through online retailers.

After printing, you'll need to cut out each individual tag from the sheet. The PDF typically includes cut lines to guide you. Use scissors or a paper cutter for clean edges. Take care not to cut through any of the printed information or barcodes, as damage to these elements could cause baggage routing problems.

Most luggage tags include pre-made attachment points, usually holes or notches, that allow you to attach them to your suitcase handles. You can use zip ties, plastic bag ties, or small pieces of string to secure the tags. Some people use small luggage tag holders that you can slide over your suitcase handle, which protects the tag from damage during transport.

Practical takeaway: Print your tags on cardstock at least a week before your cruise departure to avoid last-minute printer issues, and attach them securely to your luggage using a method that won't damage your suitcase.

Ensuring Your Tags Are Formatted and Readable

Once you've printed and cut your luggage tags, take a moment to verify that all information is clear and readable. The barcode, in particular, should be completely visible and undamaged, as cruise line staff use barcode scanners to route your luggage during embarkation. If a barcode is smudged, faded, or partially cut off, the scanner may not read it properly, which could delay your baggage delivery.

Check that your last name, ship name, and cabin number are all legible on each tag. These details provide backup information if the barcode cannot be read. The cabin number is especially important because it's the direct routing information that ensures your bags reach your specific cabin.

If you notice any printing quality issues—such as faded text, incomplete images, or misaligned information—you can reprint the tags. Simply download the PDF file again from your myCruises account and print a fresh set. There's no limit to how many times you can download and print the
